An upleasant Experience
Ok, I know that was longer than 10 lines but I found it interesting!! Those kind of experiences always make me stronger in my faith. I think your book will be an interesting read-I wish you well with it.
Well Dave, only you know the intensity what you've experienced, and lots of people will have a different viewpoint. I had a similar experience some years ago, not a 'humanoid,' more hearing and sensing some unwanted being - it was a period of time when I used to write down visions/prophecies/dreams. The main thing I remember was pleading the blood of Jesus over and over again as I felt my voice change and a sense of trying to stand my ground. On awaking I went straight into prayer, to be honest it was probably more out of fear. Nothing strange or spectacular happened that day, though i do remember when I knelt down to pray I saw /sensed two strong prayer women from the church either side of me. I did have an odd encounter though days or weeks later which I was well prepared for - long story!
I think the main thing is how do you feel about it now? Do you feel the Lord has strenghtened you through this? Has any revelation come to light? It could just be your worst fears being manifest in night terrors, or that you've had a spiritual attack.

I had a similar experience once too. Couldn't see anything/anyone but a pervasive sense of dread filled the room and i was very grateful for the presence of the Holy Spirit that night. Hearing of other people's experiences makes me feel less daft about it all. God bless your book Dave.

Hello Dave, some of what you describe is a known phenomenon of sleep paralysis. I've experienced it on and off from childhood. It can be very disturbing and I have found myself praying to Jesus on more than one occasion, when disturbed by it. I don't deny that there may be a spiritual attack component to your experience.
Thanks Ola but I am aware of sleep paralysis where one is pinned I wasn't pinned I was just disabled from speech and held down by my face, rest of body moved ok.
Imagine someone holding you down by your mouth so you're lying on your back and trying to move or grab, it was like that yet asleep...complicated I know. There is sleep paralysis I know. Its a complicated situation in that what Science identifies because Science utilises human senses to determine such things not the things we can't see. Science can't prove faith but each of us can explain it but not prove it to another there and then...its a complicated arrangement.
I used to get that one where you stop breathing and know that you're sufficating and must breath but can't. And then get the jolt awake as breathing is started again. But since becoming a Christian it very rarely happens now. The devil was obviously trying to kill me off!! God had other plans though!! :)
The only thing I can do sometimes is get down on my knees in prayer when I wake in the small hours with the terror feeling, and the sense of the evil and death of this world. Feels like the devils walking around my house sometimes. The blood of Jesus restores my sanity though. It has too, its all we've got! Its good to talk.

I used to have those sorts of dreams. Could be spiritual. Then again, it could be a 'natural' dream/sleep phenomina where what you do/believe/fear gets all mixed up in that semic-camotose state. Now I'm older I don't get them so my guess is that it could be age related, similar to the 'monster' dreams most of us had in childhood.
Hi Dave how are you post Greenbelt? Sorry to possibly state the obvious but have you prayed about this and asked the Lord to show you what the dream is about..or what was going on? It does sound like a spiritual thing...this is not uncommon unfortunately...just meant to scare you...would you consider praying with someone else at church. I went through a period where I had to ask the Lord to protect me in my sleep as they seemed to be encounters with enemy forces. You can still call on Jesus name in your dreams ..and he will protect you even then. :-) take care. :-) x

Well my account finishes on CC soon so I thought I'd share a recent encounter.
I've started to write a book which is influenced significantly by God. I knew it was going too easy and that I hadn't been attacked although I expected it soon.
Anyhow I fell asleep last night and was dreaming, it was a fairly standard dream and then it got what I call invaded. Something negative which I can only describe as humanoid in shape but not humanoid in appearence came into the dream, I tried to rebuke it, which it didn't like so it put its hand over my mouth to stop me from doing so and I couldn't. At that point I felt the side of my bed move down as if something was sat or stood over me posing itself to stop me rebuking it. I would define it as being asleep but aware of what is going on around you, as if you're asleep and someone is calling you. I woke up pretty quick to feel the bed spring back up as if someone was sat on it. It also came with a really bad sore throat which I still have today after the hand covered my mouth.
