At the risk of being garrotted or otherwise shot down in flames - I wonder of blokes over 50 ever really think about how they look.
Do they ever take time to care for themselves in terms of facial hair, hair (or lack of), clothing, smiles, those glasses that go dark in sunlight?

Come on fellas - smarten up, please!!!

Sally I know you mean well..I wonder whether it would not be better to point to some really gorgeous 50 year old men and reassure these guys on CC that with a little bit of work and spit and shine they can look pretty good..people can give up when no one takes an interest in them...I am thinking of a whole load of 50 year olds who give younger men a run for their money...Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Will Smith ( ?)....what women like is the style that they have and the confidence that goes with it...not everyone's cup of tea and obviously professional actors but still a new pair of glasses is perfectly achievable. :-)

I suprised no one has mentioned sandels and socks yet.

The real problem with Christian men is we believe we should be responsible, caring, strong and selfless; not flash! The bible doesn't help much either; Paul pushes for female inner beauty and not 'braiding the hair and wearing of jewellery'. Imagine what he might say about plastic surgery never mind if he thought men were doing the same; surely he would have an apoplectic fit??!!!
If I had made less emphasis on 'principles' and listened more to my wife's needs in this respect I might have saved my marriage.

Ellen, you are a stunner and as sweet as honey; you deserve 'a Hunk', of magnificent proportion and style and......
You are so right except for one thing; we don't want to be pointed towards Hollywood stars, we want a woman to take us in hand personally and lovingly train us in the art of being gorgeous and irresistible. Put legs on your prayers Ellen; come and make the 'spit and shine' happen for a 50 year old; pointing is rude.

this makes me chuckle,
i have decided the right man will have to have dress sense and i will not take him in hand and help him either!
i took my ex- husband in hand and helped him develop good trendy dress sense , only to wake up 16 yrs later and find out i had done such a good job that he has become the hulk of other women and now he is with another woman!, ha ha ha

Certainly does. I have a great range of designer clothes and hair extensions: jeans from Quality 4ths although I must admit the right leg is a different shade to the left. And a bit shorter (Julie224 likes shorties apparently).

Personally, I don't like facial hair on ladies. Sorry girls, it just doesn't do it for me!

What are shorties???? are you bald really then mark?? Its all false hair extensions??

I'm bald in all the right places, Julie, and I only wear the extensions on a Saturday night. Usually if I'm going to see a band, unless I don't bother going because there isn't any dancing! :+)

Shorties (not the biscuits) refer to short trousers, short people, short things in general!!

Sally - you're so right and very brave to mention it, but I do agree with you. You should see some of my fans! sob, sob, sob!

Denims on a 50 year old+ are so NOT cool. Come on!!

Either short or designer - but they are better than combats.Taste man!
As for facial hair - it can be very sexy (on blokes - although the French blokes seem to like 'au naturalle' on females) - if kept groomed and trimmed - not like a rampant hedgerow. Or hedgehog come to that.
And as for cardigans- horizontal striped t shirts with a belly.
Those who try to look 36 wearing 'shades' on their heads - oh! spare me!
Trainers and jeans. Fleeces and 'tank tops'.
Large rimmed specs - heard of Specsavers?????
I want to be turned to jelly when I look at a well turned out chap - not sighing in despair. Or sobbing.

Some one rescue me! George Clooney would do for starters......(actually my French electrician looks very similar to our George...)

Has Gok done any work on 50+'s??? How to look good with clothes on - let alone naked would be a start.

Please Dave - don't get me started on sandals and socks.......

I just looked at the over 50's chaps on a search - and then did the same for the girls - what a difference.

Why do men let themselves go after a 'certain' age...

YOu are all right, women and men need to look after themselves, but some men over 50 forget how to look after themselves, sometimes they need a lovely woman to come and show interest in them and then they pirk up and start to believe in themselves again!

You get either good lookers or non lookers, but sometimes we need to look to the heart don't we? Or am I mistaken, and some of the pictures on here could be better and more truthful..................any way lets keep looking and loving!

Hey, Sally 819

Guess my thumbnail photo is a NO-NO then (with shades on head)!!

Of course, in my defence, these type of shades are infinately better than having to wear straps to ensure you don't lose your specs or shades. Combats are cool. They are also extremely comfortable and practical for the outdoor types.

Blimey, no denims, no combats, no grey, no trendy shades....you'll have us shopping in BHS or Age Concern next. lol
