I know exactly where you are coming from, Daniel! No wonder Jesus spent time in the desert. I like the Orthodox view of the church - it's supposed to be a hospital for the soul.
Dr Schaffer was forgetting that it is Christ who saves, not Christianity. If Christ wants to save those who have never heard of Him, I'm sure it's not completely beyond His capabilities.

Let battle commence.....
Really sorry to see you go, Nigel. Jesus was all about building bridges. From your posts I could see that there was a flicker of faith in you. I pray it hasn't been snuffed out totally from your experience here.
Exactly, Jon.
This video sums it up for me. No words - the music says it all. Awe inspiring...

@John "I can't imagine a non-Christian hearing him and thinking, "Sounds like he knows God's real; perhaps I better have a look for myself at who Jesus really was.""
I was one of those non-Christians and that's... [continued]
I think the key difference between Liberals and Conservatives is that Conservatives believe that the Bible is the final word from God, written, bound, sealed and presented to us from on high, while their Liberal... [continued]
I think many liberals these days label themselves as "progressive" to avoid being pigeon-holed with the lady whom Roger spoke of. A liberal Christian, to me, is someone who is simply seeking the truth. A rolling... [continued]
Hi Sera - I think what you said is a very fitting tribute to Marie. A very brave soul and an inspiration to the rest of us. Thanks for posting.

"Hellfire and Damnation....we don't hear it now. We haven't got the bottle. Have we failed ?" No, we haven't failed because using fear and intimidation to convert people to Christianity doesn't work. Most people... [continued]
Vincent, what do you mean by "if a member of a church (either a vicar or a bishop or another member) becomes a gay or a homosexual"? You can't choose your sexuality. You are born like it.
I had the pleasure of working with Marie Colvin a few years ago. A wonderful woman and she will be deeply missed by those who knew her and read her column. Tragic and shocking news. A truly deep loss to the world of journalism.
