Forums, Topics and Messages

Forums

Think of the forums as the general subject areas on the boards. Each forum has its own tone and related subject matter and themes. There are three forums:

  • The Big Issues: for serious issues of the day including current affairs, moral dilemmas and Christians in the modern world.

  • Out and About: seen a good film, read a book you want to rave about, art, culture, travel... here's your chance to have your say.

  • Agony without the Aunt: where members can share and air insights on relationships. (arriving soon)

Topics

Topics are the discussion points within the forums. Each forum can have many different topics. For example under Out and About you may find topics about Bridget Jones, recent art exhibitions or how Arsenal is doing.

How do I get involved in a discussion?

To get involved you will need to post a message. Go to the forum page and click on the forum that interests you. On the next page you will see a number of topics, click on the one you want to read. This will bring up the messages that have been posted. The very first message in that topic will appear at the top of the page. It is there to guide the discussion.

To read the various messages posted by members on that topic, click the message title.

To view all messages at once click on the Click here to view all posts on this topic button.

How do I reply to a message?

To reply to a message, click the reply to this message button in the topic pages. If you haven't already, you will be asked to login with your screen name and password.

Write your message in the box provided and give it a heading in the title box.

Double check what you've written for spelling, grammar and content - remember once it's up it's up. When you are happy with your message, click the post message button. If you haven't already logged in, you will then be taken through to the login page. Your message will appear in at the end of the topic forum.

How do I create a new topic?

If you would like to start a topic click on the relevant forum. Click the Create a New Topic button. If you haven't already, you will be asked to login with your screen name and password.

Enter your topic and message and click the post message button. Your message will appear at the top of the page in order to give members an idea how the subject started.

Discussion Not Chat
